The original and best-selling Field Skillet, size No.8, paired with its matching Cast Iron Lid.

Our pre-seasoned 10 ¼” cast iron lid includes vintage-style self-basting ridges for easy stovetop and oven braising.

A cast iron skillet lid turns a versatile everyday kitchen tool into a truly all-purpose braising, steaming, melting, and rice-cooking pan.

The No.8 Field Skillet was the first pan we made, and it remains our best-selling product—and it's even better with a matching lid.

No.8 is a vintage-style size: from edge-to-edge, it measures 10 ¼” and the lid is an exact fit.

No.8 Skillet:

  • 10 ¼" top
  • 8 ¾" cooking surface
  • 4.5 lbs

No.8 Lid:

  • 10 ¼" diameter
  • 4 lbs
  • 4 ½" height (closed, including skillet)

Both the No.8 Skillet and Lid—including the knob—are 100% cast iron.

Seasoned cast iron is safe for high-heat cooking, indoors and out, on all kinds of burners—including electric and induction cooktops.

Field lids are Made in the USA, like all Field cast iron cookware. We source recycled iron from American vendors, and use green sand molds to pour cast iron.

Cast iron lids are seasoned with multiple coats of grapeseed oil. No synthetic coatings, Teflon, or other materials.

Hand-wash only and dry promptly. Apply Field Seasoning Oil after use to maintain seasoning and prevent rust.

Like all cast iron cookware, our cast iron lids should never be cleaned in the dishwasher, or left to drip or air-dry.

    Smooth non stick

I love this pan. I have had several cast iron & they are of the cheap variety. This has been smooth & non stick from the first fry. I cook everything on it & I love it more due to having an Induction stove I dont feel like I’m heaving a very heavy pan .

    Really good quality

I’ve never had a good cast iron skillet…until now. Admittedly , this was sort of an impulse buy. What sold me was the “smooth bottom” which turned out to be absolutely correct. With a little preheating and a little butter and/or olive oil, my eggs slide around nicely in the morning…and are WAY better than if frying in an aluminum/teflon pan.
