An exact-fit cast iron lid enhances your skillet's performance for braising, steaming, and other cooking techniques that require steam and basting.

Vintage cast iron lids included self-basting ridges to promote even braising and moisture distribution. We've revived that feature for Field cast iron lids: our covers include a simple concentric ring pattern that echoes our favorite vintage American-made cookware, and makes sure that your low-and-slow braises are basted everywhere on the cooking surface.

The 8 ⅜" No.6 Cast Iron Lid is an exact fit for the No.6 Field Skillet. We derived our sizing system from vintage American-made cookware: the No.6 size measures 7" on the cooking surface 8 ⅜" and from edge to edge.

  • 3 ¾" height (closed, including skillet)

The No.6 lid and knob are both made from 100% cast iron, just like its base skillet.

We use seasoned cast iron because it's safe high-heat skillet cooking, durable, and will develop a patina in tandem with its matching skillet, through time and use.

Field lids are Made in the USA, like all Field cast iron cookware. We source recycled iron from American vendors, and use green sand molds to pour cast iron.

Cast iron lids are seasoned with multiple coats of grapeseed oil. No synthetic coatings, Teflon, or other materials.

Hand-wash only and dry promptly. Apply Field Seasoning Oil after use to maintain seasoning and prevent rust.

Like all cast iron cookware, our cast iron lids should never be cleaned in the dishwasher, or left to drip or air-dry.

    Expands Your Cooking!

    These lids are super helpful for adding versatility to your skillets. I like making Frittatas for family and friends, and the lids make the meals so much better by concentrating heat around the whole meal for more even cooking. Glad I purchased them.

    Resourceful and Classy

    Love this lid for the No. 6 skillet! It is the perfect addition to cooking and reheating. Also, a handy mean defense weapon if you needed it. This skillet and lid sit nicely on my counter or middle of my stove. It is the most classy and resourceful piece of cookware I have ever owned.

    🍳s ‚ Done to perfection!

    This No. 6 fits the corresponding skillet seamlessly! I like my fried eggs over medium with a soft yolk but no loose or clear albumen. This lid makes that possible. The albumen is cooked all the way through but still tender, not rubbery at all. The yolk is gooey, perfect for being jabbed by the corner of buttered toast or bacon 😋
