The 13 ⅜" No.12 Cast Iron lid matches the No.12 Field Skillet exactly. Made from 100% cast iron, Field lids are seasoned with grapeseed oil—not synthetic coatings— and safe for high-heat cooking on the stovetop or in the oven. Use this lid with your No.12 for extra-large slow-and-steady braises, or quick tasks like wilting hardy greens, melting cheese for sandwiches and burgers, or finishing off sunny-side up eggs.

No.12 Skillet & Lid Set.

The No.12's tight-fitting 13 ⅜" cast iron lid maximizes your skillet's performance for braising, steaming, and other cooking techniques that require steam and basting.

Vintage cast iron lids included self-basting ridges to promote even braising and moisture distribution. We've revived that feature for Field cast iron lids: our covers include a simple concentric ring pattern that echoes our favorite vintage American-made cookware, and makes sure that your low-and-slow braises are basted everywhere on the cooking surface.

The 13 ⅜" No.12 Cast Iron Lid is an exact fit for the No.12 Field Skillet. Like all Field cast iron, we derived our sizing system from vintage American-made cookware: the No.12 size measures 11 ½" on the cooking surface, and just under 2" wider from edge to edge.

Dimensions:

  • 13 ⅜" diameter
  • 6 lb 5 oz
  • 5" height (closed, including skillet)

The No.12 lid and knob are both made from 100% cast iron, just like its base skillet.

We use seasoned cast iron because it's safe high-heat skillet cooking, durable, and will develop a patina in tandem with its matching skillet, through time and use.

Field lids are Made in the USA, like all Field cast iron cookware. We source recycled iron from American vendors, and use green sand molds to pour cast iron.

Cast iron lids are seasoned with multiple coats of grapeseed oil. No synthetic coatings, Teflon, or other materials.

Hand-wash only and dry promptly. Apply Field Seasoning Oil after use to maintain seasoning and prevent rust.

Like all cast iron cookware, our cast iron lids should never be cleaned in the dishwasher, or left to drip or air-dry.

    Cast Iron To Pass Down

Extremely well made, just as good as my Wagner and Griswold. My kids are learning to cook and learning how to take care of cast iron. They will appreciate the quality and performance of these Field Cast Iron tools.

Wonderful pan. I've had cast iron pans for decades, but this is my new favorite.
