Founded by two brothers with a passion for cast iron, our journey in cast iron began with the question “Why don’t they make them like they used to?”  We pour our cast iron cookware using green sand castings—just like the most celebrated vintage cast iron manufacturers, Griswold and Wagner. Also like vintage skillets, the Field Skillet is a full pound light than most cast iron on the market, and machined smooth for a surface that seasons to a nonstick finish.

A well-seasoned cast iron pan achieves a natural non-stick surface made up of naturally occurring polymers from the oils you use on your pan—no harmful chemicals or engineered coatings. Our pans are 100% free of PFOAs and PFTEs—your skillet will arrive pre-seasoned with just three coats of organic grapeseed oil, so it’s ready to cook right away.

It is not necessary to season your Field Skillet in the oven. Your pan will continue to develop seasoning easily and naturally just by cooking and keeping the surface of your pan smooth and free of build up. Read more about our recommended cleaning process at the Field Method for Cast Iron Care & Maintenance, and more about seasoning here.

Field cast iron cookware is compatible with all stovetop burner types, including glass and ceramic induction ranges. Like all great tools, cast iron cookware gets better with time and use. To keep your Field Skillet in top condition:

  • Pre-heat on low for up to 5 minutes before you start cooking.

  • Clean according the Field Method for Cast Iron Care & Maintenance

  • Hand-wash only. Never in the dishwasher.

  • Towel dry and warm on the stovetop to evaporate moisture. Never drip-dry or store wet.

Most importantly, cook often!

    10/10 Skillets

I am a connoisseur of cast iron skillets (self promoted of course :) )and I absolutely love these skillets. I have since purchased them for two wedding gifts and one for my parents. I previously have used Lodge Skillets, but have used an aggressive grinding to get them as absolutely sanded smooth as I possibly can. These have worked well, but nothing compared to the craftsmanship of these Field Company skillets. I absolutely rave about them and have since insisted that any friend who is getting married place them at the top of their wedding registry. What is better than a gift which you can take care of, use for your entire life, and then pass off to the next generation in an even more valuable state?

Great skillets and I would highly highly recommend.

    My cast-iron skillet

I do like the cast-iron skillet. And I have noticed overtime things are not sticking as much as I build up my seasoning. I’m glad you sent the email showing the description of what the pan would look like overtime as your building that has helped a lot cause I had me worried. I do wish that handle covers would’ve come with the purchase seeing that it was pretty pricey, but I might have to order those sometime soon, cause it is a pain in the butt to use a potholder every time.

    Baby skillet

It’s a fun size, perfect for my morning fried egg. That’s all I’ve used it for so far but I live alone so the size is perfect for my needs.

    Works great!

I love the leather handle cover! It fits perfectly and stays put. The cognac is a bit more orange than I expected, but I still love it.

    Great for lefties!

I bought this slotted turner because I’ve never had one. I’m left-handed, so I ordered it that way. I love it!! It’s perfect for eggs and anything else I make in my Field pan. Thank you!!
