Founded by two brothers with a passion for cast iron, our journey in cast iron began with the question “Why don’t they make them like they used to?”  We pour our cast iron cookware using green sand castings—just like the most celebrated vintage cast iron manufacturers, Griswold and Wagner. Also like vintage skillets, the Field Skillet is a full pound light than most cast iron on the market, and machined smooth for a surface that seasons to a nonstick finish.

A well-seasoned cast iron pan achieves a natural non-stick surface made up of naturally occurring polymers from the oils you use on your pan—no harmful chemicals or engineered coatings. Our pans are 100% free of PFOAs and PFTEs—your skillet will arrive pre-seasoned with just three coats of organic grapeseed oil, so it’s ready to cook right away.

It is not necessary to season your Field Skillet in the oven. Your pan will continue to develop seasoning easily and naturally just by cooking and keeping the surface of your pan smooth and free of build up. Read more about our recommended cleaning process at the Field Method for Cast Iron Care & Maintenance, and more about seasoning here.

Field cast iron cookware is compatible with all stovetop burner types, including glass and ceramic induction ranges. Like all great tools, cast iron cookware gets better with time and use. To keep your Field Skillet in top condition:

  • Pre-heat on low for up to 5 minutes before you start cooking.

  • Clean according the Field Method for Cast Iron Care & Maintenance

  • Hand-wash only. Never in the dishwasher.

  • Towel dry and warm on the stovetop to evaporate moisture. Never drip-dry or store wet.

Most importantly, cook often!

I want to cook everything in this skillet. Love the natural no stick surface with no teflon. Yes, eggs do not stick. Amazing.

    Love my pan !

Love the pan! I got a No. 8 which was stated to be the number one seller, but honestly it’s too small for me, I should have gotten a No. 10 :/

The pan is great, the Wright of it is so much better than my caste iron pans I’ve had for years. Hoping to get the better size after the holidays.

Fabulous cast iron pan; smooth as silk

I have regular cast iron pans (Lodge) which are the same size as my new Field Pans (6" and 8"). My Lodge pans are pretty much non-stick If I'm diligent about using proper heat, mostly medium low to medium high. Lodge pans are rougher and harder to keep in shaple and too heavy for me, but they can be maintained. The premium pans that I just love to cook with are my new Field cast Iron pans. They tuly are Premium, amazingly smooth, easier to maintain, and lighter weight. They are a joy to use. I took Field's advice to sautee onions over medium-low heat with a couple of tablespoons of a high heat oil until the onions turned brown and sweet. Cooking the onions low and slow did help "treat" the pans. I fried eggs next and b. oth pans were completely non-stick follwing the onion treatment. Here's the other great thing I learned after leaving the burner on too high. These pans heat up quickly and can get hotter than my regular pans. I takes a bit of getting used to. Field's CI pans recover from to high heat with much less effort than my other cast iron pans. I first clean them with a brush, then a metal chainmail cleaner. They clean up quickly and it's easy to feel anything still stuck, or the smooth surface of the pan when any residue is gone. I love feeling the smoothness of these pans that tells me they are clean. My final conclusion is I love these pans and very happy I bought them. They are superior than any other CI pans I've used.
