Care Kit includes:

  • Field Seasoning Oil
  • Chain Mail Scrubber
  • Natural Fiber Brush.

An optimized formula to protect your cast iron and build naturally non-stick seasoning. Ingredients: organic grapeseed oil, organic sunflower oil, beeswax.

The key to non-stick cast iron cookware? Cook often, and apply Seasoning Oil after every use. Here's how it works: we use organic oils high in polyunsaturated fats, because these oils convert most readily to resilient seasoning (that's the short version, read about the science of cast iron seasoning here). Applying just a small dab after cooking helps keep your cookware smooth and non-stick, and builds a beautiful dark patina over time.

For best results, use within one year or refrigerate to extend shelf life.

Our 2.5-inch kitchen brush with unfinished beech wood handle and stiff natural union fiber bristles well-suited to cleaning cast iron cookware. Beech wood handle provides firm grip for easy maneuverability while scrubbing pan walls and exterior surfaces.

Like many natural materials, the unfinished beech wood handle will develop a darker patina and smooth texture over time. With extended use, small cracks may appear along the grain of the wood. Made in Germany, from fully biodegradable and compostable materials.

Chain mail scrubbers are one of the best ways to clean a cast iron skillet—but that's not the only reason we use them:

A chain mail scrubber can quickly dislodge baked-on food residue, without stripping seasoning. This action scrapes away material that won't help season your pan, all while lightly scuffing the very top layer of seasoning and creating texture where new seasoning will form strong bonds. This is the key to the Field Method for cast iron care, and helps ensure your well-used cookware keeps getting better with time and use.

4" x 5"; 100% USA Stainless Steel, manufactured in the USA.

  1. Rinse out the pan and remove loose food with brush. Use a chain mail scrubber to dislodge any remaining gunk and gently scuff the cooking surface and side walls.
  2. Heat the pan on the stovetop for a few minutes to evaporate moisture. If necessary, wipe up remaining moisture with a paper towel.
  3. Apply a dab (about ¼ tsp) of Seasoning Oil. Use a paper towel or rag to rub over all surfaces of the pan, inside and out. Wipe away excess oil to leave a dry, matte finish.

Five Stars for the Care Kit

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

I use the care kit every time I cook with Field cast iron. I have 3 pieces that I bought over a period of time. My first piece is now bullet proof!

Useful metal scrubber, and the pan is great

The 10” pan is working well so far. I use the oil and the chain-mail scrubber. I am not sure what the stiff brush is for - how to use it. What different conditions call for it, rather than the chain-mail?

The pan itself is great so far, even tho not “fully seasoned” yet.

We have not needed to use the larger pan, yet.

    Are kit

This care kit is a great companion to the Field cast iron. The bristle brush is stout and durable. It also works great to manipulate the chainmail. Speaking of the chainmail, after using a competitors chainmail the Field chainmail is phenomenal. It is constructed of very small rings which gives it a very fine texture making scrubbing bits off a breeze! Finally the seasoning oil is great. I use it mostly as a protective coating when storing my iron more than a season builder. For that I use the grape oil per Fields recommendation.

Received this kit with my first purchase and have now added additional containers since I found this conditioner to be the best I have ever used. Great product.
