Most modern cast iron is heavy and rough—sold "as cast" to save on costs. Field skillets are machined smooth, modeled on the best vintage cookware—thinner walls, less weight, and a surface that builds great seasoning fast. It's how cast iron used to be made, done even better.

    Perfect size!

I have been asking for this pan from field for several years, I am happy to be retiring my Griswold chef. It is the perfect size for my use. The only criticism I have is the pan sides could be splayed out more at the top, for cleaner flipping.
