Founded by two brothers with a passion for cast iron, our journey in cast iron began with the question “Why don’t they make them like they used to?”  We pour our cast iron cookware using green sand castings—just like the most celebrated vintage cast iron manufacturers, Griswold and Wagner. Also like vintage skillets, the Field Skillet is a full pound light than most cast iron on the market, and machined smooth for a surface that seasons to a nonstick finish.

A well-seasoned cast iron pan achieves a natural non-stick surface made up of naturally occurring polymers from the oils you use on your pan—no harmful chemicals or engineered coatings. Our pans are 100% free of PFOAs and PFTEs—your skillet will arrive pre-seasoned with just three coats of organic grapeseed oil, so it’s ready to cook right away.

It is not necessary to season your Field Skillet in the oven. Your pan will continue to develop seasoning easily and naturally just by cooking and keeping the surface of your pan smooth and free of build up. Read more about our recommended cleaning process at the Field Method for Cast Iron Care & Maintenance, and more about seasoning here.

Field cast iron cookware is compatible with all stovetop burner types, including glass and ceramic induction ranges. Like all great tools, cast iron cookware gets better with time and use. To keep your Field Skillet in top condition:

  • Pre-heat on low for up to 5 minutes before you start cooking.

  • Clean according the Field Method for Cast Iron Care & Maintenance

  • Hand-wash only. Never in the dishwasher.

  • Towel dry and warm on the stovetop to evaporate moisture. Never drip-dry or store wet.

Most importantly, cook often!

    This pan is life-changing!

I’ve used a cast iron pan my whole life, but recently moved cross country and was forced to downsize everything. I started off my new kitchen with the purchase of your pan and I find myself using it even more than I did my old one because it’s so light!

Field Company 11 5/8 inch skillet

I love this skillet! Items do not stick it it. Also I seared a perfect steak in it tonight. I look forward to much more cooking in this skillet!

    Ol' No. 10

It took me a bit to figure out that sticking was worse with wetness. Aside from that learning curve, it's my go-to for cooking everything but eggs. Waiting for the season to complete before I go there.

    No 10 cast iron skillet

I can not say enough how much I LOVE this skillet! I love the smoother service as I have had many other cast iron skillets but this is super smooth and great to use the metal spatula I also purchased. The starter kit with the stiff brush I use most times when washing. I never use soap, simply water. Then I dry the skillet by returning it to my induction stove top and put heat on the burner making sure all water is dried and apply the oil I also purchased with the skillet. Works like a charm. Very little sticking to the pan. This pan does use less heat than other my induction pans. Can’t rave enough. I have now splurged and bought the griddle. Goodbye teflon! Thanks.

Amazing Skillet - Best Brand Found

Particularly impressed with the weight. The product is clearly high quality, and the ground finish of the interior is neat - easier to clean than other lower quality cast iron with the sand-finish pits, like Lodge.

They cook like a dream, and I have no regrets after replacing my old Xtrema ceramics with these.

Love that there is a good selection of sizes.

One thing that would be major would be official glass lids for each size. I bought aftermarket glass lids for the old ceramics and they don't fit these at all. Not interested in cast iron lids, like to be able to see through to easily gauge the progress (including how telling a steamed up lid is), and also to be able to vent. I still use the glass lids, but they are all over-sized for these skillets. It's almost impossible to find aftermarket lids to fit different brands' skillets.
