No.8 Cast Iron Lid is sized to match the No.8 Field Skillet, and the Bronze Knob fits every size of Field Cast Iron Lid, from No.6 to No.12. It can be used interchangeably with the standard cast iron knob, and is oven-safe for easy Dutch oven baking and braising, or any kind of stovetop cooking. Made in USA.

Factory Seconds have small scratches, dings, or other cosmetic imperfections, but they cook just as well as our "firsts," and will last just as long (that is, forever).

Cast Iron Lids are exact matches for the corresponding skillet sizes, so a No.8 Lid fits snugly on a No.8 Field Skillet and No.8 Dutch Oven. Field sizing is based on vintage cast iron conventions, so our No.8 size means a 10 ¼" width, edge-to-edge.

Here’s how lids measure up:

  • No.8: 10 ¼" diameter, 4 lbs, 4 ½" height

The Bronze Knob is sized to fit every Field Cast Iron Lid interchangeably, from No.6 to No.12:

  • 1" tall
  • 1.85" wide
  • 4 oz weight

Field cast iron lids are 100% cast iron and include a seasoned cast iron knob. (Bronze knob is packaged separately).

Knob is machined from solid bronze, with stainless steel replacement screw for easy assembly. Bronze is a durable alloy, oven-safe at any temperature (well, unless your oven goes over 1700°F), and extremely resistant to rust and other corrosion. This isn't some flash-in-the-pan coating—our knobs are machined from solid bronze to match the profile of our skillets: the gentle curve of the underside provides plenty of room for a safely-mitted hand to lift and adjust the (hot!) lid on the stovetop.

Cast Iron Lid and Bronze Knob are Made in the USA. Cast iron lids are seasoned with multiple coats of grapeseed oil. No synthetic coatings, Teflon, or other materials.

Hand-wash only and dry promptly. The Bronze knob is highly resistant to corrosion, but lid body is made from 100% cast iron and is susceptible to rust if left wet.

Hand-wash only and dry promptly. Apply Field Seasoning Oil after use to maintain seasoning and prevent rust.Like all cast iron cookware, our cast iron lids should never be cleaned in the dishwasher, or left to drip or air-dry.

At Field, we love materials that show their time and use. They start new and become old familiar friends. Lots of oven baking will darken the bronze knob up, for example. Or if you like that high polish, you can keep it shiny with a little scouring pad action.

    Outstanding!!

Took a seasoning very quickly and is truly nonstick! I love seeing eggs slide effortlessly around the pan.
